This low-angle bevel-up jointer plane is ideal for jointing edges and flattening panels. 12° bed angle, coupled with a 25° blade bevel, yields an effective cutting angle of 37° that minimizes fibre tearing. The adjustable mouth is easily moved with the front locking knob. Can be adjusted to a narrow slit for fine shavings with minimum tear-out or opened wider for heavier cuts.
A unique stop-screw in the throat adjusts to whatever mouth opening is ideal. It lets you open the mouth fully for blade removal, yet quickly restores the exact mouth setting. Sole is 560mm - 22” long and 73mm - 2.7/8” wide.
Body is made of stress-relieved ductile cast iron. Accurately machined, the sole is flat.
Blade is 57mm 2.1/4” wide, 3/16” thick, made of either A2 or O1 tool steel. It is lapped on the non-bevel side to a flatness tolerance of 0.0002” or better over the working surface, and with an average roughness surface finish of 5 micro-inches (0.000005”) or better.
Cutting angle stated describes the actual cutting angle where blade meets wood and is determined by a micro-bevel at the cutting edge; the blade's primary angle is typically a few degrees less. An optional bevel-up jointer fence enables you to shoot consistent and accurate square or bevelled edges. It is 11” long and can be attached to either side of the plane with brass thumbscrews. A set screw adjusts the fence square to the sole. The 2” tall face is used to plane edges perfectly square and can be used to shoot angles less than 90° by attaching a wooden guide to the inside face of the fence. Anodized aluminium.
