The standard block plane is preferred for general-purpose work. The 20 degree bed angle plus the blade's 25 degree bevel angle results in an effective cutting angle of 45 degrees (as found in most bench planes). The low-profile lever cap fits the hand well, at only 1/8" higher than its low-angle sibling. In all other respects, it is the same as the low-angle block plane. Available with a lapped blade, in either A2 or O1 tool steel, 1.5/8" wide. A toothed blade in A2 steel is available for working very difficult grains, such as knots.
