Combined blade advance and lateral adjust is both sensitive and accurate.
Two blade guide screws prevent shifting of the blade.
The wide wings, multiple finger grips and accurately machined 90 degree angle between the sole and the sides make this plane ideal for shooting.
The 12 degree bed angle of the plane and the 25 degree bevel angle of the blade combine to result in an effective cutting angle of 37 degrees.
The plane is 16cm long and 50.8mm wide.
The body is made of ductile cast iron holding a blade 41mm wide, 3.2mm thick, made of A2 tool steel. It is lapped on the non-bevel side to a flatness tolerance of 0.0002" or better over the working surface. Can be used with optional ball tail and front knob to convert the plane to a low-angle smoothing plane, albeit smaller. Optional toothed A2 steel blade with a 38 degree bevel is available for working with difficult grain. We offer various accessories to maximize its use. For working difficult wood, 38 degree and 50 degree bevel blades are available in A2 or O1 tool steel. Adjustable for chamfers up to 1/2" wide, the optional Chamfer guide wings are fixed at a 90 degree angle to hold the plane body at a consistent 45 degree to the work face.
